PROFESSOR FARUK RASHID HARUNA RESUMES DUTY AS THE FIRST SUBSTANTIVE VICE CHANCELLOR OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION KONTAGORA
On Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:15 am, history was made in the Federal University of Education, Kontagora, as the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna, walked into the University in his Black Prado jeep to assume duty as the first substantive Vice-Chancellor. He was well received by the principal officers of the University. As part of the official ritual, the Vice-Chancellor was received by the Registrar, Barrister (Mrs) Aisha Bukar, in her office. The Registrar congratulated him on his new appointment and later ushered him into the Vice-Chancellor's office amidst joy and jubilation expressed by members of staff and gentlemen of the press from the Kontagora Landmark radio.
The outgoing Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aminu Malam Yakubu Umar, in a symbolic handing over, congratulated Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna for emerging victorious during the recent interview for the position of Vice-Chancellor and prayed for Allah's divine guidance. He remarked that, during his short stay in office as the Acting Vice-Chancellor, there was no record of casualty among staff and students. He added that the Senate of the University was inaugurated and the University had admitted new students. He, however, enumerated some challenges he wanted the Vice-Chancellor to address. These were the perennial problems of theft and indiscipline in the University. He complained of the problem of paucity of fund, which has hindered many activities in the University.
The Outgoing Vice Chancellor implored Professor Faruk to expedite action on improving internet facilities in the University, as well as encouragement of academic research for staff. He stated that doing so would improve the University rating in the globe.
Appreciating the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna, commended him for holding brief as Acting Vice-Chancellor. He stated that the areas he wanted to work on urgently were the introduction of Artificial intelligence (AI), Cyber Security as well as entrepreneurship education, noting that they would encourage students to apply for admissions in the University. He emphasized that he would focus on staff welfare and development and also improve on the university library by providing Internet facilities and procuring new relevant books.
Prof. Faruk sought support from staff. He stated that all hands had to be on deck to make sure that the Federal University of Education Kontagora could be among the best Universities of Education in the Nigeria.
