GOVERNING COUNCIL CHAIRMAN SEEKS MUTUAL COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY AND KONTAGORA LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Kontagora, Professor Francis Adedayo Faduyile, OON, has sought mutual collaboration between the Federal University of Education, Kontagora and Kontagora Local Government Area Council. The Governing Council Chairman made this historic move during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Kontagora Local Government, Hon. Barr. Lawal Yusuf, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The Council, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, congratulated the Local Government Chairman on his well-deserved appointment, noting that his emergence affirmed that a round peg was in a round hole in the affairs of the local government, considering his leadership qualities and commitment to public service. He noted that the University, being a critical institution within the locality, valued cordial relationship with the local government authority.
The Pro-Chancellor informed the Local Government Chairman about the University’s forthcoming convocation ceremony, scheduled to be held soon. He emphasised the significance of the event as a major milestone in the history of the institution, especially following its recent upgrade to a full-fledged university. He, therefore, appealed for the support and cooperation of the Local Government Council in ensuring the success of the event, particularly in the areas of logistics, security, and community mobilisation.
In his response, the Chairman of Kontagora Local Government, Hon. Barr. Lawal Yusuf, expressed gratitude to the Governing Council for the visit and the goodwill extended to him. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration between the Local Government and the University. The Chairman acknowledged the importance of the University to the socio-economic development of Kontagora and assured the delegation of his administration’s full support towards the success of the convocation ceremony.
He further pledged to work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure adequate security and a conducive environment for the event. The Local Government Chairman also commended the University Management and the Governing Council for their efforts in advancing the institution.
The visit concluded with a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
