Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Education, Kontagora, was among the distinguished scholars inducted as fellows of the Society of Educators in Nigeria by the Society of Educators, United Kingdom (UK). The ceremony took place during the society's 1st Annual International Conference, hosted by Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, Ondo State, on May 7, 2026.
The event attracted distinguished scholars, educationists, administrators, and professionals from various tertiary institutions across Nigeria and beyond. It was organised to honour eminent personalities who had distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions to the advancement of education, leadership, research, and community development.
In his citation, Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna was described as an accomplished scholar, consummate administrator, and a visionary leader whose remarkable achievements in the education sector had continued to impact Nigeria positively. The organisers particularly acknowledged his transformative leadership at the Federal University of Education, Kontagora, where he has continued to provide purposeful direction since the upgrade of the institution from College of Education to a full-fledged university of Education.
In appreciation of the Society's kind gestures, Professor Faruk Rashid Haruna expressed gratitude for finding him worthy of the honour. He described the fellowship as a recognition of collective efforts by the management, staff, and students of the Federal University of Education Kontagora towards repositioning the institution for greater excellence. He reaffirmed his commitment to the development of education and pledged to continue contributing meaningfully towards policies and programmes that would enhance teaching and research in Nigeria.
